Something you might not guess about me is that I am a parent of a little 7 year old girl.

Something you might not have guessed about me is that I am getting my Masters in Political Management and Advocacy from George Washington University in DC.

S.K.i.N. Medical Spa is proud to announce that we are taking our services on the road! Do you have a birthday party, bachelorette party or reunion coming up? Maybe you want an excuse to get the girls (or guys!) together?!
This is a great opportunity to ask those nagging questions that you have regarding anti-aging, injectables and aesthetics in a private and comfortable setting. You can make your party as formal or casual as you wish! You can get Botox on your couch in your PJ’s!
The S.K.i.N. staff handles all invites and RSVP’s, so you don’t have to lift a finger. Just give us the emails of your guests and we will organize everything. Parties typically last 2-3 hours with fully trained and certified staff conducting all services.

New Additions to the S.K.i.N. Team!
This summer has been busy! We are so excited to introduce you to our new team members! We searched far and wide to find the best of the best in the Aesthetics industry so that we can continue to give you the amazing service that you have come to expect from S.K.i.N. Medical Spa!
We are pleased to announce that Rori is our new LEAD Medical Aesthetician. Rori has over 12 years of professional cosmetic and skin care industry experience. The last 4+ years have been in the medical spa industry. She has received advanced training in paramedical aesthetic procedures while completing laser, chemical peel, microdermabrasion, derma plane training and certifications in Scottsdale, Arizona at the National Laser Institute. Rori has extensive knowledge of skin care and skin care health; she is continuously educating herself by attending additional advanced training and education to provide a personal, individual, one-on-one experience for her clients.
We are also re-welcoming Jayme back! Jayme left for a short while to begin nursing school, and we are thrilled that she has found time to include us in her busy schedule! Jayme Pronger graduated from Aveda Institute’s Esthiology Science program with honors in 2005. Post graduate training has allowed Jayme to uphold the highest standard of care for her clients. Jayme attends annual continuing education courses through the International Dermal Institute, Society of Plastic Surgical Skin Care Specialists, Faces Etc. of Minnesota and Advanced Aesthetic Ed. Her continuing education product lines, chemical peeling agents, pulse light therapy, laser and skin tightening therapy. Through her extensive training, Jayme can confidently and effectively analyze the skin and treat many skin conditions, such as: acne, acne scars, rosacea, sun damage, melasma, vascular damage, wrinkles and dehydrated aging skin. Jayme has been awarded the “Top Performing Medical Aesthetician” in LaRoche Posay. Jayme was invited to speak at the Upper Midwest Conference in Minneapolis on behalf of IsClinical Youth Complex. Jayme is a makeup artist that is able to assist you in improving the overall look of your skin while suggesting the best Physician quality skin care products for your specific needs.
And last but not least, we are bringing Sharla into our family! Sharla graduated in 2008 from Josef’s West Academy in Fargo, ND. She is currently licensed in the states of North Dakota and Minnesota to practice Medical Aesthetics. Sharla has 2 + years of experience working in the medical spa environment. She utilizes her skills to deliver a variety of skin treatments and services with skill and confidence, including: laser hair removal, facials, chemical peels and Microdermabrasion. Sharla is dedicated and focused on giving each of her clients a unique skin analysis and creating customized care designed to meet their individual needs. Sharla engages in ongoing training and education focused on the services and products that S.K.i.N. Medical Spa has to offer.

MyTalk 107.1 Broadcasting LIVE from S.K.i.N.
Anyone from Minnesota has heard “Minnesota Nice” a million times. We are proud to be first responders to tragedy, like we saw recently with the North Minneapolis tornado clean up. We are known for being kind and generous to neighbors we well as well as strangers that we don’t know. I am always thankful for my kind neighbors that snowblow my driveway in the middle of December!!
An important part of being a part of such an amazing community is helping those in need. S.K.i.N. is pleased to announce that we will have Jason and Alexis from MyTalk 107.1 on Wednesday, June 15th from Noon until 3:00 pm in the spa for a LIVE broadcast. We are collecting non-perishable food items from June 6th until the 18th in the spa for “Food for Families”, benefiting Second Harvest Heartland. You are welcome and encouraged to visit our donation site during our business hours.
Please remember families in need during these summer months. Many children will be missing school lunches once school dismisses for the summer. New Treatment Offered at S.K.i.N.!
As many of you may have seen in the recent email that was sent out, S.K.i.N. is proud to introduce a new treatment to our menu! S.K.i.N. now offers LipoDissolve, also known as Mesotherapy. A short introductionto LioDissolve is explained below. Make sure you schedule a consultation with the RN to receive all the information on this exciting new service!
LipoDissolve/Mesotherapy is a procedure which helps dissolve fat. LipoDissolve involves a series of minuscule injections of a solution which dissolve localized areas of fat deposits.
LipoDissolve uses two naturally occurring chemicals, Phosphatidylcholine and L-Carnitine. These chemicals act like detergents and have the ability to dissolve fat. Both of these substances are normally secreted and stored in the gall bladder and help in the digestion of fat.
Generally 1-3 large areas are treated in one session. Swelling and tenderness does increase with the volume of injection and this is a limiting factor for therapy. One has to be aware that there is a suggested limit of solution to be injected, usually not to exceed 40cc.
LipoDissolve can be used to treat fat deposits in the:
- Thighs and hips
- Double chin/neck
- Fat around the cheeks and mid-face
- Upper and lower arms
- Abdomen/waist
- Fat deposits of the back
- Knees and legs
LipoDissolve is a minor procedure and unlike surgery, is used to remove small amounts of fat from localized areas. Our RN will examine you prior to the treatment and determine if you are a candidate for this procedure.
The results are gradual and take a few months to become obvious. Results of smaller areas become more noticeable in a few weeks, but most individuals require a few months. A loss of 2-3 inches of fat usually requires at least 2-4 sessions.

Skin Cancer Fast Facts
Our SkinMedica Rep is pretty amazing! She is constantly sending us educational information. Today I received a piece of information that I felt was very important to share with all of our beautiful clients!
- SKIN CANCER is the most common form of cancer in the United States. More than one million skin cancers are diagnosed annually.
- EACH YEAR there are more new cases of skin cancer than the combined incidence of cancers of the breast, prostate, lung and colon.
- ONE IN FIVE AMERICANS will develop skin cancer in the course of a lifetime.
- ABOUT 65 PERCENT of melanoma cases can be attributed to ultraviolent (UV) radiation from the sun.
- MELANOMA accounts for about three percent of skin cancer cases, but it causes more than 75 percent of skin cancer deaths.
- MORE THAN 20 AMERICANS die each day from skin cancer, primarily melanoma. One person dies of melanoma almost every hour (every 62 minutes).
- WOMEN AGED 39 and under have a higher probability of developing melanoma than any other cancer except breast cancer.
- ONE IN 55 people will be diagnosed with melanoma during their lifetime.
- ONE OR MORE BLISTERING SUNBURNS in childhood or adolescence more than double a person’s chances of developing melanoma later in life.
- A PERSON’S RISK for melanoma doubles if he or she has had more than five sunburns at any age.
- FREQUENT TANNERS using new high-pressured sunlamps may receive as much as 12 times the annual UVA dose compared to the dose they receive from sun exposure.
- PEOPLE WHO USE TANNING BEDS are 2.5 times more likely to develop squamous cell carcinoma and 1.5 times more likely to develop basal cell carcinoma.
- THE AVERAGE ANNUAL melanoma rate among Caucasians is about 22 cases per 100,000 people. In comparison, African Americans have incidence of one case per 100,000 people. However, the overall melanoma survival rate for African Americans is only 77 percent, versus 91 percent for Caucasians.

Tornado Season Is Here Again
Everyone in Minnesota is thrilled when they see those first green sprouts emerge after a long and hard winter. One obvious spring and summer characteristic that I am hard pressed to find fans of is tornado season.
This last weekend saw an outburst of tornados that devastated much of the metro area. I went to Park Center Senior High, not too far from the North Minneapolis area hit hardest by tornados and high winds. I live in Fridley, which also saw uprooted trees, missing roofs and other damage. We made it out safely, with just some debris in the yard from some unlucky neighbors. My son’s school was cancelled today because the power is still not restored. In one afternoon people lost cars under trees, homes and personal items and a place for their children to learn.
Odds are that you or someone you know was somehow affected by the storms. Since we are still early in the season, more storms are sure to come.
